What to do When Accidently Deleted Files

However, there are also two situations in which you can’t recover your data from Recycle Bin. Those are:

  • You have used a short key shift + delete to permanently delete the file(s).

  • Files that you deleted are too large for Recycle Bin.

In the above situations, you can try the below two methods for recovery.

  1. Restore an older version of deleted files

Yes, you can save the older version of deleted files or lost files also. It can be done by using free backup and restore features. This feature is built-in in Windows. You have to follow the instructions mention below:

  • Open ‘Computer’ and navigate to the folder which used to contain the file.

  • Right-click on the folder, select ‘Restore previous version’ (or ‘History’ in case of Windows 8/8.1/10) from the pop-up menu.

  • You will see the list of deleted or lost files with details. Select the version you want to restore and then click on the ‘Restore’ button.

  1. Recover data using Data recovery software
