Nice to meet you. Tell me something unique about you?
Hi guys, nice to meet you, we are Dillon and Dean D’Antuono from The Revel. Something unique about us is we are a Rock and Roll band, and as bothers, we actually get along with each other.
Please tell me about your EP and the title song “Don’t Let Me Go”?
Our EP captivates what The Revel is about, Rock and Roll music that lifts spirits and is exciting. The EP itself is about going through romantic relationships and covering all sorts of emotion that comes with it. The song ‘Don’t Let Me Go’ captivates the rock and roll energy and excitement that we are about while the lyrics create a sense of romance that is relatable to anyone.
What or who inspired you to write the song?
The Lyrics came from past experiences from being in relationships. Also the chord progressions and the open tuning was inspired from Keith Richards and Rich Robinson type of loose style playing which Dean and I have made taken and added our personal feel and sound to make it our own.
When is the video coming out?
The Don’t Let Me Go video is coming out in the next few weeks so stay tuned.
Did you enjoy and feel inspired during the recording and writing process?
The writing and recording process is always an inspirational time. We love experimenting with sounds, and recording techniques in the studio. Also, writing songs that have great meaning to us is always the most important element. The band really shows that what we play that music is coming from our hearts.
I understand that Jimmy Gnecco was involved, what was it like to work with him and how did that relationship develop?
Jimmy is an unbelievable talent. He is a master in the studio, and has come up with some great ideas on the songs we all wrote together. His skills have really inspired and motivated our spirits to push to make everything great. He is a dear friend to us.
Who are some of your musical inspirations? Jimmy has such a renowned voice, anyone else you want to name?
Our musical inspirations span from all generations of music. Not only is Jimmy one, but Aerosmith, The Black Crowes, The Stones, U2, Oasis, Zeppelin, Jack White, all inspire us and it is shown through our music and live show.
I guess being from NJ is musically meaningful. Does it play a big role in your music?
Being from NJ there a lot of great talents that came from this state. We do captivate the greats from NJ into our style, but we also become inspired from artists all over the globe. That is what makes being from NJ so special because it’s such a cultured state to live in you can find all types of music anywhere here.
Do you share writing and musical input, as brothers, does that add any extra challenges or does it create better synergy to make great music?
As brothers we rarely fight. Working together is seamless because we are so close together. We have been playing and writing together for over 10 years so there are no limits to what can be said and what ideas are used making the whole process easier. We try every idea good or bad to see if it works because sometimes you just never know.
I know you are doing a mini-tour with a stop opening up for Jimmy Gnecco in NY, any plans for more dates?
We are in the process of setting up more dates for the rest of 2019 and 2020.
What is the main thing you want for the future of THE REVEL?
To connect with people all over the globe through our music and live shows.
