PREMIERE: Evan Castle & The Southern Tier Release “Drunk As Hell”

Evan Castle was born in Appalachia in Western New York, a mediocre town of blue-collar determination. Sparsely populated, this did act as a haven for Evan to first begin his writing, and finding his voice. Now Evan finds himself more at home in Nashville, that has music running through its veins. Embracing seductive guitar lines and an analog recording methodology, Evan Castle & The Southern Tier can be found at a half-way-house between Americana, Rockabilly & Blues Rock.

After releasing their first single, “Passengers”, in May of this year, Evan Castle & the Southern Tier quickly caught the attention of both the streaming community and the Nashville rock club scene. “Apt. B” soon followed which further solidified the bands’ sound for their audience. A busy summer of local shows and recording followed and now Evan Castle & the Southern Tier are set to release the third single.

The band returned home to Western New York to record “Drunk as Hell.” Although the song is a more stripped down version of the band than listeners have heard on prior releases, the same haunting revery remains. As Castle repeatedly sings the song title overtop slide lick of lead guitarist Tim Kelly, a sense of rumination and dwelling is inevitable in the listener. “Drunk as Hell” is not so much a departure for Evan Castle & the Southern Tier as it is a welcome promise of what is to come.

Speaking to the motivation behind Drunk As Hell, Evan Castle & The Southern Tier shares:

“For me this song was about a time when I felt helpless and just wanted the night to be over. It’s about the feeling you get when something really terrible happens in a day and you look back at it wishing things had been different.”
