Emerging Australian-Chinese Queer pop artist JËVA releases a new innocent love single ‘I Can’t Stop Thinking About You,’ a single that shines a light on when he came to terms with his sexuality and used love as a vehicle of escapism.
Growing up obsessed with romance, coupled with being brought up with Asian traditional values, it wasn’t long until JËVA found out he wasn’t able to fulfil his parents dreams of settling down, finding a wife and having children.
“In order to fulfil my mum’s dream, I firstly needed to find a wife, which means I would need to fall in love. Love. I think I loved this boy in my grade?… and that’s what I became obsessed with,”
“I became a hopeless romantic and spent all my time and energy into falling for someone, thinking about him endlessly and repeating all the different scenarios of what could be. That’s what the song is about; escapism. I was escaping into the innocence of romance to avoid facing the truth of my sexuality”
