INTERVIEW: C Wired
Hi Charles, welcome back to VENTS! How have you been?
CW: Doing well. The band has been rehearsing and performing alot. All tuned up ready to rollJ
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Baby Blue”?
CW: We recorded this at the same time we tracked the Omega EP. We didn’t release it under Omega because we were not happy with the vocals until this year. It was tracked at 4 studios, three in Nashville, and Red Dragon Studios WV. The same outstanding session guys who tracked Omega are on this track. Sol Philcox-Littlefield (guitars), Wil Houchens (keys) Justin Olander (acoustic guitar) Jerry Roe (drums), Addison Smith (guitar-producer), Amos Heller (bass). The final mixing and mastering was done by Rob Higgins at Red Records Recording Studio.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
CW: Baby Prime Became Baby Blue is inspired by a past relationship with a young woman I nicknamed Baby Prime. Everyone goes through down periods in life. During her down period, she was diagnosed with a “mental illness.” In the months following her diagnosis, I watched her take on this diagnosis and, ultimately, believe it. She changed from the vibrant person I knew her to be and became very blue.
Our reality is determined by our beliefs about ourselves held deeply in our subconscious mind. You can count on the world to tell you “the way it is.” But don’t buy it. Count on yourself and live your truth. You’re stronger than you know.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
CW: We have a lyric video out now, I think that will be all.
What role does Nashville play in your music? Did you actually move to Nashville because of this experience?
CW: I love Nashville! Everything you need is right there. It’s not just country music. Many rock acts that you would recognize record there as well. Best studios, engineers, writing and production talent. I moved C Wired and Red Dragon Music there this year.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material?
CW: Freedom Glider a full 12 song LP will be out April-June next year. 90% of the material is tracked. Working on the post-production and vocals now. There will be a couple of duets that I think people will enjoy.
What else is happening next in C-Wired’s world?
CW: Learning to play and write on the piano. It is opening up my writing style in new ways. All of the previous songs were written on guitar. I kept hearing different music but was struggling to get it down on six strings. So, I am undertaking a crash course keyboardsJ
