Hi Shon, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’ve been blessed.

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Too Fast”?

When I was writing “Too Fast,” I knew I wanted it to be something different and something uptempo. I wanted to be able to catch people’s attention and what better way to do that then to make a song that people can turn up to.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

No, I wouldn’t say there was a specific event that inspired this song. The song is inspired by my everyday life.

How was the filming process and experience behind the video?

Filming was a fun. I’ve never shot a video in a warehouse so that was different.

How was the recording and writing process?

The writing process was great. I tried to be more creative with my lyrics. I wanted to paint a picture for my fans and think of more ways to turn them up.

It took me a minute to perfect the record though. I was in the studio a lot to make sure everything was perfect.

What role does Chicago play in your music?

Chicago plays a huge role in my music. Chicago made me the person I am today.

How your upbringing has influenced your writing?

Honestly, almost everything I rap about has happened at some time in my life, so I would say it’sa huge influence.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

I have multiple singles that are ready to release. I’m just waiting on the right time to drop them.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Yes, I have a new I’m about to drop real soon. I feel like it’s going to be dope.

Any plans to hit the road?

Not right now. I’m focusing on building my fan base and brand here in Chicago first. Then I’ll hit the road.

What else is happening next in Shon Paid’s world?

A lot is happening next just stay tuned.
