INTERVIEW: C.J. Green

Hi C.J. Welcome to Vents! How are you?

I am good!

What is your greatest inspiration for your music?

My life experiences and my kids for sure. Anything can be inspiration. Looking outside in the fall and seeing all the different colors is inspiration. A plane flying through the sky or the cars passing by is inspiration. The world is amazing and huge and it’d be easier to tell you what doesn’t inspire me.

What is the hardest subject you’ve ever written about?

For myself nothing. If it’s hard to write about something then that song isn’t mean’t for you.

Are you planning on releasing new music soon?

My new single with Derez Deshon comes out beginning of October.

Do you currently have a manager?

My guy Mike Millions has been killing it for me.

How are Spotify playlists important for your exposure?

Spotify is the new radio and it really gives indy artists a chance to break out on their own. They are EXTREMELY important and I always stress that to artists that come to me for advice.

What are the challenges of being independent?

Honestly building the right team was, but now that I have a great one it’s really not so bad.

What label would you like to sign to if you were offered? Or would you stay independent?

In a interview with Iheart radio I told them I’m always down to hear people out because only a fool doesn’t at least listen to someone offering you something.  So I’d hear anyone out but there’s not really any rush to sign with someone right now unless it’s really a great offer.
