Beautiful Black Diamond Rings Are the New Trend

Black diamonds are seriously gorgeous. They’re a nice alternate choice for brides who are looking for a durable stone but want something a little bit different than the traditional white gem ring. We set out to find the greatest black diamond engagement rings out there, and boy, did we find some gems. Dark gems may be beautiful, but they’re far from simple! There are several kinds of darkish gemstones and they all have different features and valuations.

Natural Black Diamonds

Natural black diamonds are basically the same thing as white-colored gems, except for one thing: they have inclusions of graphite and random clustering in their structure. They are quite rare and are found in very few areas. However, they are really more cost-effective than white or other colored diamonds simply because they are less in demand.

Treated Black Diamonds

Treated black diamonds are regular white gems that usually have a large amount of inclusions in them, and thus are not quite valuable. Because of these inclusions, they are basically useless as white ones. So, they get treated via irradiation or heat. The treatment is what can make the stone dark. These are the least expensive kind of dark stone and are sometimes known to as colorless treated stones.

Faux Black Diamonds

It starts to get a little complicated here. There are numerous types of “faux” dark diamonds that are man-made, and they all are a bit different from one another.

There are lab-grown, artificial, and simulant stones. Lab-grown stones are generally the same as natural one, except, of course, they can’t be found in nature. Simulant gems, on the other hand, have different chemical substance and physical properties. This makes them unbelievably cheap (like, find-a-$29-simulant-diamond-band). Make sure you do your due diligence to find out what kind of darkish precious stone is being used before you buy anything!

Grey Diamonds

What about grey diamonds? There are usually Two main types of them: natural and salt-and-pepper. Natural grey precious stones are very rare, and most of them get their color from a high concentration of hydrogen or boron. Salt-and-pepper diamonds are also found in nature. These stones have an excessive presence of white and black inclusions. These inclusions have an effect on the stone’s clarity, giving it a distinctive appearance.
