INTERVIEW: The Blood Republic

Hi Zak, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Great thanks, currently working on new music out in New York!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Heart On Fire”?

I wrote the song back in the UK at the start 2019. Was one of those songs that sort of wrote itself, I had the whole thing written in about 30 minutes it was crazy! I then recorded it once I was out in New York and it all came together.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

I think its a manifestation of how I was feeling at the time. I think I was trying to encapsulate the inner voice people can have in their head. That sort of back and forth, questioning whether we are good or bad.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Yes! We have a music video set for release on Friday 20th September!

How was the recording and writing process?

I currently write and produce all of the bands music. This one in particular was an insanely simple process but I had so much fun with it. I wanted to keep it heavy but simple. That old saying less is more is really hooked on me at the moment.

Would you call this a complete departure from your previous musical work?

The sound is evolving for sure! The core genres that influenced the bands music remain the same as the first album still but the songs feel more polished to me! I also feel i’m able to do more with my voice now than I could on the first releases.

How has Velvet Revolver and Pantera influenced your writing?

Velvet Revolver was a huge influence on me growing up. I was a huge Slash fan at one point and picked up some of his playing techniques from watching his solos. I love both their albums, it has that raunchy Guns N’ Roses sound but with a more contemporary, grunge feel. With Pantera, the first time I heard Dimebag’s riffs and solos when I was a teen it was a bit of a break through for me. It made me see rock and blues guitar in a whole new light!

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Most definitely! I’m working on a bunch of new songs at the moment and we have more songs already set for release in the coming months!

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

There are a few floating about but nothing set in stone yet!

How would you say having shared the stage with some of the biggest names in music has influence you guys?

I think it helped me get a better understanding of what you need to do in order to survive in this industry.

Any plans to hit the road?

Hell yeah! Going to be hitting the road in 2020! There is a lot of really cool things on the way!

What else is happening next in The Blood Republic’s world?

I’m drawing up some exclusive merchandise designs for ‘Heart On Fire’ at the moment. I’m also going to be out in New York for the coming months working on the bands new music! This new stuff is sounding really cool we are well excited to put it out there! Lots of cool new content coming to our social media pages to!!
