Out now from Denmark’s Dillistone is the fabulous new EP 3rd Culture Kid. It had been on the horizon for some time, and the producer/DJ got fans ready with the singles “Fuckboy” and “Priority.” There is a retro-tinged vibe to his productions, and the collection carries a message of support for youngsters growing up and feeling unwelcome in another country.
He explains a little more about it, saying: ”This new EP is an exploration of new sounds and concepts based in childhood recordings my mom made of my brothers and I growing up. The songs are influenced by how I’ve changed over the last few years not just in music but specifically my personal life and is an important step for me as an individual and artist to take. Its not always pretty but its the truth.”
Here in addition to the previously released tunes are “Molotov,” which plays with lingering melodies and “Flex,” a rhythmically crisp, groove-filled beat that provides contrast to the more expressive, vocal-led “Fuckboy.”
Dillistone has already remixed the likes of Laurel and Frances and Dua Lipa, and looks set to continue rising as the year progresses. We’re hooked on 3rd Culture Kid and urge you to take a listen.
