Nel Unlit describes themselves as a “ a group of songwriters, storytellers and musicians” who have created folk-pop-opera. The first single from their upcoming album, Wake for the Dreaming, is a haunting masterpiece that will propel the listener into a different realm of consciousness. The band members hail from different regions in the North East of England and Northern Ireland. The album is based on legendary author Neil Gaiman’s graphic novel “Worlds End” from the Sandman series.
On “Apple” Nel Unlit showcases deep restraint and brilliant layering to create a landscape which is both modern and nostalgic. The lyric “the sea is in blood” immediately plunges you into a world crafted by lyrics and instrumentation much like The Decemberists and Valley of the Giants create. Hearing the rest of this beautiful story will be our type priority of the fall.
Wake for the Dreaming will be released on 10/25/19 via their own label, Spooker Rekkids.
