Hi Louise, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’ve been great! Buzzing that my music is out there in the world – feeling super grateful and enjoying every second!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Close”?

Absolutely! So, Close is the second single I’ve released, so it all still feels very exciting. I have had this song for well over a year now but felt the need to wait until i was fully ready for people to listen to it.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Not one event, but a collection of memories spent on the coast of Mallorca, Spain. My friends and I have gone back to the same spot for 5 years now.  It’s kinda like our annual ritual where we have time to reflect on the year that has past and where we’re heading.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Yes yes yes. We filmed it on one of the hottest days of the year, so expect golden rays, clean blue waters and my sweaty forehead.

The single comes off your new album Golden Hour – what’s the story behind the title?

The songs I have written for Golden Hour were all part of a long healing process I embarked on a few years ago. It was very dark and heavy but there was one section of the day that felt a little easier, golden hour. There is something about witnessing the setting of the sun and the arrival of the moon that encompasses a sense of balance.

How was the recording and writing process?

Honestly, the best. I wrote all the songs with Jack Shepherd and Kwassa who made the entire process a dream. Creating with people you love and know so well means you skip the ‘getting to know other part’ and get straight into the good stuff. We never set out to have ‘Golden Hour’ finished by a specific deadline which gave us so much freedom to make something we all thought was special.

How has Haim and Christine and the Queens influenced your writing?

For starters I had both their albums on repeat when I was creating the music. But I was most influenced by Christine and The Queens show at —— which I think was a real life changer moment for me. Her energy and sincerity reminded me that sharing your story holds so much power behind it.

Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?

Nature. I’m constantly in awe of her.  I love to be outdoors. I am real country girl at heart. Give me a field, some trees and the smell of cow poo and I’m one happy gal.

Any plans to hit the road?

Not yet but it’s definitely on the list!

What else is happening next in EVER’s world?

I’ll be putting out a song a month until October and then the full release of Golden Hour will be ready around then too. I’ve also got plans to head up to the Scottish Highlands in Autumn for a very pretentious week of writing in a wooden lodge.
