After being crowned NME emerging artist 2018, Effie returns with the first release, Worship, from her forthcoming project.
Pulling from real life experiences and baring her soul, the track is an honest display of song writing, with a dreamy vocal lifted over a deep driving bass. The ability to captivate through the songs storytelling, propels the listener to a place of uprising and power. ‘Throughout ‘Worship’ there is a real sense of female empowerment laden throughout the lyrics. Often we find worship and relationships can be a one way system typically leaning hierarchically towards men and I wanted to breakdown this idea and belief. ’ Teaming up with friend and revered songstress Nia V (Krept and Konan, Stylo G), the story is compelling and melodic. Effie’s vocal, captured and produced by 1da, drifts around the music with a light and airy emotional presence.
The visuals captures all these distinctive themes throughout the use of imageries that matches and adds perfectly to the lyrics. There’s also a great play with the lighting that subliminally transmits the different emotions and passion.
