London-based Chilean singer Paula Luna released “I Don’t Owe You Shit”, a new single from her upcoming False Hopes and Expectations EP. The track captures the feeling of being a woman in a hostile structure, one where toxic jabs and violent sexism are commonplace, and is rooted in her own experiences. Her songwriting is completely attached to visceral honesty, her lyrics at the forefront of the heavy track. Listen here
Paula Luna on “I Don’t Owe You Shit”:
“For women, this song is a call to show destructive men that you don’t owe them anything, that they can’t stop you or confine you, and they don’t own you. However, female, male or non-binary, we can all relate to the frustration of dealing with someone who is insufferable. Whether we’ve faced a megalomaniac, paranoid or manipulative person, we’ve all encountered situations where we’ve needed to stand our ground.”
