Rising pop-R&B singer-songwriter and vocal powerhouse Jennifer Denali has released her anthemic new single “Try” along with a beautifully moving music video to accompany the powerful opus. “Try” (Dense Records) is about a spiritual journey to self-acceptance – one that includes accepting all mistakes and past judgements and in the end learning that you must put yourself first. The message of the song and its chorus, which questions “who would I be now if I got it right on the first try?,” stems from Denali’s own road to self-love. “‘Try’ is a retrospective,” Jennifer shares. “It’s about finding the strength to accept everything that led to who you are, good and bad. For my own journey in loving myself, I came to realize that good or bad doesn’t matter, it makes you who you are and that’s what matters.”
Of the self-penned song, she adds, “I wrote this song because it was what I was going through at the time. I was reflecting on the things that make me who I am and that it’s all okay. In a way, I was feeling defeated about not being where I thought I should be in life. Once I reworked the idea of loving myself, I realized I’m right where I’m supposed to be.”
