Born in Manaus at the heart of the Amazon, to a West Indian father and a Brazilian mother, the singer and songwriter Julia Manickchand nurtures a passion for music since a very young age. After a few years singing in bars and restaurants and covering famous artists on her shows, 2019 started as being a decisive year in Julia’s career, when she decided to transform her diaries, that for a long time were kept away from curious eyes, into a beautiful and original project. Julia is determined to fight for her place in the music industry combining consistent songwriting with a deep and powerful voice. As for that, she delivers to the public a Pop sound full of R&B and EDM references, representing not only her unique music style but also the music references she grew up listening to.
In March this year, Julia released independently her debut single “Addiction”, and in August this year, she has just released her second promotional single “Ashes”. Listen here
With more than a thousand streams in only two days after the release, “Ashes” was well received by the public, who seem to relate with the stories lived and told through music by Julia. “Ashes’’ describes the contrast between pain and freedom, when it comes to leaving behind a moment or place in life where you no longer belong. “It’s about being reborn,” Julia says and continues: “With this song, I hope to inspire you, especially women, to be strong and resilient, knowing that it’s OK to leave something or someone in the past, especially if this decision is necessary for you to love yourself first”. The song is now out in all streaming platforms and the Music Video is already recorded and it’s planned to be released in September this year, on Julia’s YouTube channel.
“Ashes” is one of the songs that will be part of Julia’s first EP, that is planned to be released at the end of this year.
