Los Angeles-based Cones – a.k.a brothers Jonathan and Michael Rosen – will release their debut album Pictures of Pictures next month, and today they share its third single “Laugh of the Party.” “‘Laugh of the Party’ is about two friends driving many hours through the desert rain to see their favorite singer perform,” Jonathan explains. “It is an ode to the road, friendship, and the need to see your heroes onstage while they’re still alive on this planet. I wrote it in my head on a long walk through the mountains and finished it on my guitar when I got back into my car.” Check out the song HERE and read an interview with the band now viaCulture Collide HERE.
“Moonstone” – directed by Jonathan, who also hand-draws animated videos forToro Y Moi, Eleanor Friedberger, Delicate Steve, and more “Seeing Triple”
Cones will play a hometown album release show in Los Angeles on September 21st at the Bootleg. Get your tickets HERE.
While the Rosens only began making music together a few years ago, through touring with The Fiery Furnaces’ Eleanor Friedberger as both her backing band and members of her opener Icewater, this Cones debut is a long time coming. After releasing a handful of singles, the band went into a friend’s studio to collaborate with a producer for the first time and recorded what they thought would be their first LP. Ultimately, the album did not feel to the brothers like a Cones record, so they returned to their home studio and started from scratch. Now, the album which offers up an intoxicating blend of shimmering psychedelic exploration and muscular pop craftsmanship, will be released this Fall.
