KAWALA are back with the new video for their recent single, ‘Play It Right’! Watch here
Inspired by the weirder side of 80’s coming-of-age movies, think Weird Science and The Goonies with a dash of Stand By Me, the video tells the tale of a young girl finding the confidence to stick up for herself via a tape of the band which produces some unusual phenomena…
“We wanted to convey the classic feel-good story line of someone building up confidence and overcoming hardships” the band explain. “Somehow it’s ended up as a super weird Sci-Fi 80’s vid in which we as a band come to life from a tape and act as a metaphoric encouragement force. I mean, obviously..”
The song itself combines stunning vocal harmonies with upbeat rhythmic guitar to create a track that’s infused with joyful energy and sunny optimism.
Speaking about the song KAWALA explain, “When writing ‘Play it Right’ we thought, what better topic for a song than to discuss the difficulties of writing a song itself. It’s kind of set from the perspective of an internal voice guiding you through the many obstacles faced when trying to write a screamer.”
