INTERVIEW: Sabina Beyli

Hi Sabina, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

I’ve been great! Working on a lot of new music that is coming soon and also doing lots of school work…

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Close”?

“Close” is the upcoming single from my first ever EP! You can listen below:

It’s a chill song that everyone must have in their playlists because it’s so relatable and unfiltered. This song means EVERYTHING to me. I’m so young and this song just talks about how I may seem indecisive and unsure of certain things, but that’s only because I’m human and am scared to risk it sometimes. It’s like I’m young and afraid, but also confident and not afraid at all. It’s very personal to me, and the lyrics are pretty straightforward so once you listen to the song you’ll understand.

Did any event in particular inspired you to write this song?

I guess you could say so. I’ve had relationships with people that would tell me I’m a very shy, and a very closed person. In this song I’m specifically talking about how the reason to why I act that way is because I lack experience and am a little frightened to open up to everyone. It’s also about me wanting to be close to someone specific but that must stay a mystery.

How was the recording and writing process?

It was genuinely very fun to make because before beginning writing  “Close”,  my amazing producer Skyler and I talked about the message I wanted to deliver. We discussed my personal life and how things have been going for me. That gave us lots of ideas and inspirations for the single. He then showed me this really cool beat that I thought would fit perfectly with this song and I got into the booth and started mumbling some ideas for the verses and the chorus. And then both of us start writing the lyrics.

It’s kinda crazy how music gives you the opportunity to talk about literally anything in such a beautiful way. It’s art.

How has Ariana Grande and BTS influenced your writing?

BTS are the most hard working and humble people out there, and the messages in their songs are very deep and so important. They talk about self love, self worth and much more, which made it easier for me to accept myself the way I am. It also made me want to be be very honest and authentic with my listeners. Same goes to Ariana Grande, she’s a workaholic and talks about literally everything in her songs. Even though I’m exactly 10 years younger than her, I feel like I understand and relate to her music on so many different levels.

With the great reception your music keeps getting – does that put any pressure on you as you keep putting new material out, or rather the opposite?

To be honest, I do feel very pressured to put out new material but that’s only because the songs in my EP are the best ones I’ve made so far, which makes them so much more personal to me. I’m a perfectionist so I want everything I put out to be exactly the way I want it to be. I always put 100% into what I do which makes it a little harder for me sometimes, but at the end of the day it’s totally worth it.

Does the new single mean we can expect even more new music – if so, how’s that coming along?

Yes! I’ve been working on my first EP (mini album)  and ‘Close” is a song from that EP that will be coming out a little after the single comes out. This EP will have 6 songs all together (including “Close”). All of these songs are great pieces of music that I’ve put my soul into, and they mean the world to me. I really hope people love them as much as I loved making them!

What are some of the feelings you will be exploring on this upcoming record?

Relief, nervousness, joy, intimacy and pride! I’m very proud of how it turned out but i’m also very nervous (good kind of nervous)

Can you give us any hints for your other singles?

One of the songs (“Replace You”) is about me trying to replace someone that once meant everything to me. Another song is called “First Place” and let me tell you this: it’s so badass, cool and grungy.  Every single track is different and shows a lot of self worth because there’s no one else like you, and you should be proud of that! Some other songs are about me needing taking my time to figure myself out because time is money and you shouldn’t be rushed to do anything. Make sure to stay tuned because these songs won’t disappoint.

Any plans to hit the road?

With the EP coming out, I have 11 songs in total and going on tour is an absolute dream to me! I am currently working on it and hopefully I’ll hit the road very soon!

What else is happening next in Sabina Beyli’s world?

Well, currently Sabina is drowning in the amount of school work she has to do, but she’s also pumped about her EP and has high hopes for it. In all seriousness, I have a lot coming and I can’t wait to share it with the world! Follow me on Social Media so you can keep up with my journey!
