Why Do People Get Tattoos?

Tattoos are a form of scarification like any other, such as branding, piercing, etc. Tattooing is often looked down upon or humiliated. Many people associate Tattoos with being dirty, rude, tough, cruel, etc. But rather it should be known that none of these are true. Tattoos are a form of art with an individuality, meaning, and value. People getting biased with tattooing are majorly ignorant to such information.

The reason for tattooing can’t be narrowed down to any definite number, because each and everyone has their own reasoning. Thus, tattoos come in various designs with different meanings. Among the many, there are six most popular thoughts for tattooing, which are as follows:

1)      Piece of Art:

Tattoos are considered to be a cool thing. Many people are there who get themselves tattooed just because they find that particular design attractive and stylish. They treat tattoos like any other clothes, shoes or makeup, almost like an accessory. It does not have to be always something heavy and intense, and involve some particular meaning.

In order to stand out from the crowd and look indifferent and trendy, some people opt for unique designs of tattoos as offered by various tattooing centers like Hand of Glory tattoo studio.

2)      Expression:

Any form of art is equivalent to a form of expression and tattoos are no different. Most people use such forms of art to simply express themselves. A particular design might find some similarity to one’s life and he or she may decide to communicate and relate to others through a tattoo or tattoos. They feel a certain tattoo to be the voices of their silences, hardships, etc.

3)      Thoughtful Meaning:

Now, there are some pieces which have a particular meaning. A phrase, a symbol, a word, that gives out a special message. Something like “life is not a bed of roses” or similar things, which might not necessarily have a deep-rooted connection with the person, but has a certain meaning. Mostly Japanese and Korean symbols are tattooed normally as they carry quite a significance.

4)      Memory And Tribute:

Another section of tattooing goes for people who get themselves tattooed in memory of their demised pet or father, mother or the same, paying them a kind of tribute and respecting their absence. Or there are some who opt for tattoos symbolizing their love for their partners, like tattooing the initials or maybe the first name. Many also tattoo themselves with special dates, images, etc.

5)      Fandom:

Lastly, there are some people who choose popular movie or star tattoos. Like some of the most common ones are Star Wars, the Game of Thrones, Avengers, Sacred Games, Sherlock, Yankees, etc. These obsessive fans usually opt for such tattoos to honor and show their love for the movies or a particular character or maybe for a particular film star. These are done quite enjoyably.

6)      Good Feeling:

One part of people inscribe themselves with positive thoughts or maybe encouraging phrase or motivating words and so on. So that, at times when life seems to be the worst and one feel like doing nothing, and may also think of ending their lives; one glance at these tattoos help them to survive. Many lives have been saved from depression, suicide, through these tattoos.

Wrapping Up:

There are other reasons too because each and every person has their own hardships and emotions to deal with. There are very few people who can recognize the benefits of tattoos. That is absolutely fine, everyone does not think similarly. But what is important is that one must not criticize a person’s choice of lifestyle.
