Australian indie electronic duo Lastlings release their new single “Last Breath” on RÜFÜS DU SOL’s Rose Avenue Records today. The track drifts between darker, brooding beats and weightless, breathy vocals from lead singer Amy Dowdle, creating their signature blend of emotive soundscapes.
On the single, Lastlings said: “There will always be a heavy, haunting, yet beautiful emotion attached to this song for us. This song is about being born, seeing first light, living and being there for each other until our last breath. It was originally written and dedicated to our parents because of their on-going love and support. However, on the day of recording we were given the shattering news that someone close to us had passed away, so we’d like to also dedicate this song to this once bright light in our world and their family.”
Coming off a lauded performance at Australia’s celebrated Splendour In The Grass festival, Lastlings are next set to embark on a North American tour supporting RÜFÜS DU SOL across preeminent venues like Red Rocks Amphitheatre, LA State Historic Park, and more. The tour arrives just after Lastlings released a stunning remix of RÜFÜS DU SOL’s “Solace” from their acclaimed third studio album. The rework serves as the first in a collection of eighteen remixes from international tastemakers like Edu Imbernon, Audiofly, and Hot Since 82 that the band will release in their forthcoming SOLACE REMIXED album on September 6. Lastlings also recently teamed up with buzzing British producer SG Lewis for a club-ready remix of his massive track, “Flames”.
