Hi D, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?
I have been great! Life has been pretty lit.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Thankful”?
My Single “Thankful” means more to me than most people would think. It is a song that is a true statement of how I feel about My Lord and Savior. I just want him to know that I’m so thankful for everything he’s done for me and the challenges he’s made me face to mold my character.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
I was sitting in the parking lot of my church and for some reason my spirit just kept telling me to tell God thank you. As the beat proceeded to play, all that could come out of my mouth was “Thank you Lord”
Any plans to release a video for the single?
There actually are plans to shoot a video to the song! However I want to reach a certain milestone before a video is discussed. I would say if this song hit 75k Streams then we can talk about a Video!
How was the recording and writing process?
The Recording process was pretty fun. There are a couple different tones that I originally sung the song in but after a while I felt that the tone I went with fit best! I sent it over to my good man Aaron J and he went in!!
What role does Detroit play in your music?
The city of Detroit Plays a huge part in my music, simply because my little cousins aren’t in the best situation living there and I feel like if I can form a message big enough to go mainstream…then I can reach any and every child that is stuck in a bad neighborhood and introduce JESUS!
Do you tend to take a different approach when you are collaborating with someone else rather than working on your own original work?
Not really. I take every song super serious so if someone sends me a 12 or a 16 to slaughter, then I will do just that…slaughter it! Paid Full or even if I sauced it for the low, it’s my content and it has to be perfect.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Yes! This track is a glimpse of a new direction I am heading in which is the direction to become a R&B Worship Artist. Meaning smooth r&b instrumentals with a genuine message about Jesus. As well as R&B Love songs that are simply love songs about relationships.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
I will be coming out with a New single sometime in October, Called “Sold Out” Ft. Parris Chariz, but there is not exact date in place.
Any plans to hit the road?
I am in the process of planning a tour with some fellow artists and traveling to numerous cities and maybe even taking a trip up to Canada! Right now we are working out the kinks to see what is best travel wise and time wise. I’m hungry to get out there so expect to see me in a ton of faces.
What else is happening next in Da Rich 1’s world?
Next in My world I would say is Grind SZN, meaning staying assertive and never letting the media rest. My next few releases will be monumental and feature some pretty established talent and following that expect an album Fall 2020. Da Rich 1 will be a fresh find for a lot of people in 2020.
