Áslaug Carves Out Gem With “Take From Me”

With a sound that draws on inspiration from acts like HAIM and Lykke Li, Áslaug presents her latest piece of work this week via V2 Records. This multi-talented artist has roots in Iceland but now resides in The Netherlands, where she has been honing her songwriting and production alongside singing.

She sounds heart-stoppingly beautiful with “Take From Me,” which builds with emotive charge and features some warmly layered instrumentals and an undercurrent of electronic vibrations. Áslaug says: “This song is the essence of who I am as an artist, both musically as well as lyrically. For the past few years I’ve grown into a person that I actually like. The process of writing this specific song has played a big part in that growth. To me, ‘Take From Me’ is about independence, about standing up for yourself, about being true to your own beliefs and about trusting your gut. It has been a long time coming, but I can’t wait for people to hear this one.”
