Thank you very much for having me, I’ve been good thanks you
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Devil’s Whiskey”?
“Devil’s Whiskey” is the first release off my debut EP. It’s actually one of the first songs I wrote and recorded as a solo artist. It’s basically a song about just throwing your middle finger to the world and saying “fuck it, I’m about to do me!” . Quite fitting I think for someone beginning a solo career.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
I don’t think it was one particular event, I think it was just years and years of being involved in numerous bands and consistently being let down and left dissapointed. I’ve always been the driving force in every band I’ve ever played, and it comes to a breaking point where you just think, fuck it, you want something done right you do it yourself.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Absolutley, we are actually in the process of getting setup to shoot 2 new music videos.
How was the recording and writing process?
Great, I love being in the studio. The process tends to go quite smoothly because, before I go into the studio I’ve usually got an idea of the structure and sound of the song. I’ll go in, well talk about the song, I’ll sing it out for the producer, and we just get stuck in and more often than not we have a finished song at the end of the day.
What role does Ireland play in your music?
I don’t know how much Ireland directly plays a role in my music but, having grown up there its definatley shaped me into the ramblin gypsy rogue songwriter that I am today.
How has Yelawolf and Pink Floyd influenced your writing?
I’m a big fan of all music, so I listen to every genre, and with the likes of Yelawolf, I think it’s that hip hop swag that I mix with my big bluesy riffs. A lot of my songs are very guitar driven, nothing as complicated as David Gilmours licks, but having grown up with my father blasting Pink floyd all the time, it definatley created a fascination with what a guitar can do.
How your upbringing has influence your music?
I had a simple upbringing, working class farming family. I loved every second of it, having lived in the city for last 4 years my heart yearns for that country escape, and that’s probably a theme that’s often mentioned in my songs, that lust for freedom and peace that for me can only be achieved when I’m out in the country or back on the family farm helping with harvest.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
For sure, I’ve got 3 more songs due for release by end of the year.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
The second single is being released August 30th, and its titled “Mama Said.”
Any plans to hit the road?
Definatley! I’m shaking boots to hit the road! I’m in the middle of rehearsing the live set , so hopefully I can hit the road with the boys and get some dates booked.
What else is happening next in Konrad Sheane’s world?
Right now I’m obviously working on releasing the self titled EP, weve got a pile of shit to get organised for future music videos, I’m busy writing new songs aswell as rehearsing the current songs, I’m planning to get back into the studio and record new material by december, and then January if we haven’t aready, plan to hit the road .
