How to turn your Instagram Followers into Customers

Currently, 80% of the billion users in the social network Instagram already follow a sales account and 200 million visit one or more company profiles every day.

In the Olympus of social networks, Instagram has positioned itself as one of the most important. Its unstoppable growth opens a unique window for brand positioning and the attraction of new customers. According to data from the app, at the end of 2018 the community added more than one billion active users, reaching higher engagement levels to options such as Facebook or Twitter, as revealed by the Ipsos Panel of Large Consumption Q1 2018 of Epsilon.

At the beginning of this year 2019, Instagram was placed as the sixth most used platform in the world, according to a We Are Social study. The social network has been the first to recognize that its service is ideal for connecting with friends and interests in one place, but it is also a formidable business channel, where more than 90 million users click on the labels of publications every month, they offer some product.

“Instagram is a channel that any strategy should take into account both to connect with audiences in a much more personalized way, and to delight new customers and create brand loyalty. It is important to know that 80% of the billion users already follow an online sales account and 200 million visit one or more company profiles every day.

In that context, the HubSpot expert proposes three ways to fully exploit the possibilities of action to position brands in the social network also you can try here:

1.- Write feet of creative photos

Instagram is visual, so advertising actions generally focus on image quality as a determining factor; However, a beautiful photo is not enough, because the caption of each post can give that content a better reach.

It is advisable to write many drafts before publishing the final, start with the most important to highlight (do not forget that the maximum number of characters is 2,200), include a call to action (action verbs instead of nouns or adjectives) , limit yourself to four hashtags, adapt the voice of the brand to the tone (generally relaxed), use emojis, promote the other channels of the brand and, if in doubt, better be brief.

2.- Know the Shadowban

The shadowban is the process by which content is blocked on social networks without the affected users noticing. If your Instagram account has been the victim of this, the content will not appear in the users’ latest news section, unless they are already your followers. This measure (not officially recognized) is applied to accounts that do not meet the conditions of use, or because they use illegitimate methods to increase followers, such as bots or hundreds of irrelevant hashtags.

To find out if your account is blocked, publish an image with an unusual hashtag and have five users other than your followers search for it; if none can see it, you may be under the effects of shadowban. If so, analyze if you have used bots or automated tools to boost growth. Also make sure that you do not use locked hashtags (here the list), that you have not received complaints from users and check the Instagram terms of use and community rules.

  1. Use the “Buy” option

In September 2018, Instagram implemented the “Buy” option in the usual post of business accounts, in which the product is labeled as a person. One of the benefits is that the user can complete his purchase journey – from the discovery of the product until closing – without having to leave the application to complete the process.

The posts are marked with the phrase “Touch to see the products” or with a small white circle with the icon of a shopping bag. It is important that your company profile is connected to a Facebook catalog. You can manage it in the commercial administrator, directly on your FB company page or through tools such as Shopify or BigCommerce.
