Marriying the pop punk of the early 00s with some hints to 90s Green Day and emo music – Highlight Reel’s new self-titled EP is a treasure of sort, a journey back into the past when music was somewhat much raw and built from the heart rather than a music machine or algorith.
About the album, Dominic comments –
From dusk to dawn, we self-recorded this new album in a Northern Michigan bunkhouse over the course of one week. Never before had we all been in such a comfortable setting to work on something so important to all of us. Being in charge of our own deadlines allowed us to work efficiently every day with very little stress. We made the recording process as simple as possible while being thorough and maintaining focus.
I feel that by allowing things to happen naturally, this had a big effect on the final sound of the album. We brought out the best in each other that week we spent in the bunkhouse and I believe it was one of the best weeks of my life.
Head Honcho, Editor in Chief and writer here on VENTS. I don't like walking on the beach, but I love playing the guitar and geeking out about music. I am also a movie maniac and 6 hours sleeper.
