New York based Japanese born artist Thirteen13 delivers one of the most intriguing, bizarre and mind boggling videos of the year with ‘Blood’. Watch here
Making a name for herself in Japan for her convention breaking, anti-establishmentarian subject matter, Thirteen13 is set to make another statement with the visually intense ‘Blood’. Truly going for the throat with topics about getting your own back and the hypocrisies in Japanese culture.
With ‘Blood’ being the brain child of Thirteen13 and the PETRICHOR creative team, this is showing signs of being one of the most interesting and impactful musical movements in recent years. Speaking on the video, Thirteen13 states: “This song is basically about the concept ofrevenge. When people fuck you over, you are faced with a decision as to if you will fight back or not. Sometimes, the battle is not worth fighting for, then there are times if you don’t fight back you get killed, and other times, not stooping to their level and playing the role of the angel is the best form of revenge, as they cannot direct the hatred towards you and eventually suffer from guilt and self-destruct. The lyrics also touch on slut shaming, how most things get taken off the hook as long as it is under the influence of alcohol (here in Japan), karma, religion etc.”
‘Blood’ is a remarkable introduction to Thirteen13; her one of a kind, abrasive style is sure to keep everyone on the edge of their seats. With easy comparisons being made to the likes of Death Grips and Die Antwood, Thirteen13 is going to cause a stir moving towards the end of 2019.
