Combining raw punk energy with a poetic, hip-hop flair, ‘Time Debt’ sees the vivacious duo deliver an grippingly fresh-sounding track. Continuing with the proudly anti-establishment message prevalent on previous releases, the song tackles themes of state control and making something of your life, with lyrics urgently exclaiming “we’re all in debt to time”.
Drawing comparisons to classic-era Beastie Boys, the DIY duo is made up of 0f rapper James (aka Jambo Unchained) and producer Jules (Master Fado) who both grew up playing in punk rock bands, before they first met at a drum and bass night. Afterself-releasing their debut EP ‘Episode 1: L££CH RIDDEN’ on their label Parasitic earlier this year, the 21-year-olds swiftly won support from Huw Stephens and Phil Taggart on BBC Radio 1.
With their naturally commanding presence, Para Fiction have already shared the stage with the likes of Slaves and Skinnyman, and were picked up to support industrial hip-hop star JPEGMAFIA last November. This summer, the duo are set to bring their anarchic energy to British tastemaker festivals Boomtown and Boardmasters in the coming weeks, and will be performing alongside Jackie P at Leeds Festival.
Bold, unapologetic and determined, Para Fiction are cementing themselves as a vital mouthpiece for the next generation, with ‘Time Debt’ being their latest uncompromising offering.
