The self-produced trio showcases modern electronica and dream pop mixed with ambient sounds, reminiscent to fans of The Japanese House and Bon Iver. Having played sold-out local support shows at prestigious venues such as the Belgrave Music Hall in Leeds; the trio creates a nostalgic air of ambience and hazy pop that doesn’t quite fit into one specific genre.
Luna Pines has been playing a run of Sofar Sounds shows recently around the UK, as well as a series of support slots and headline shows in and around their home city of Leeds. The band produces and mixes all of their own material, making them even more of a force to be reckoned with inside of the eclectic Leeds music scene.
The song focuses on the struggle of feeling lost after graduating from university and was written by the band’s own Lotte van Den Berg (as well as lead singer Ryan Hawkins) and her close friend Davarious Jackson, during a time in which they found themselves slipping into a monotonous hole of living the same day again and again, with no defined path or obvious future.
Lotte van den Berg explains,
“It was the last song we ever began writing together. In December, the day after the first demo was completed, he took his own life. I remember taking the song to Ryan (Lead Vocals/Guitar) and Rob (Drums) and just feeling like it needed to be done, and we finished it in about two hours. For that reason, it’s such an important song to us as it’s one that has been through so much during its creation, and I think there’s a certain pain and desperation you can feel because of it.”

The band will play their first London headline show at The Social on 29th of July [Tickets].
