MOY DROPS DEBUT TRACK ‘START ME UP’

Aside from being a New Zealander now based in Glasgow, little is known about Moy. Today, the newcomer drops his debut track ‘Start Me Up’– watch the video HERE.

Moy’s expressive, charismatic vocal sparkles as the focal point of ‘Start Me Up’, which pulls in elements of his eclectic array of influences – the urgent grooves of Ratatat, the psychedelic flair of Dot Hacker and the stadium-sized scale of Arctic Monkeys.

“If I go, will anyone know?”he questions in his nakedly exposed lyrics, before continuing, “If I die, will anyone cry for me? Will I feel sad? I might feel glad that I’m not here.”

As Moy explains, “‘Start Me Up’ is about me starting again, helping and needing a friend, being in a depressive state of mind, and the acceptance of not overcoming it.”

The accompanying video focuses on Moy’s impassioned delivery of the song. Possessing a magnetic appeal to the camera, Moy’s personality masks the video’s DIY nature. He joined forces with a couple of friends to make the visual during downtime in a recording studio in Glasgow.
