Memory Keepers drop new 7″ this week

In Memory Keepers, duo Jared Paul Boulanger and Amarah Ulghani (both of rock project The Sour Notes) dive deep into their musical tendencies. Guitar hooks cut through distorted samples and vocals, coasting on driving beats and bass synth lines. Audiophiliac homages to heroes past swirl alongside lighthearted wordplay and it’s darker undertones. A series of upcoming 7-inch single releases (and accompanying digital releases), as well as gigging in and around their Austin, TX homebase keeps them busy.

Now, Memory Keepers have returned with the release fo their new 7″. Stream here

“We acquired a few unique pieces of vintage gear for these tracks, like the variable speed tape recorder heard at the beginning of “Time Flies” and the classic Alesis Midiverb II, that we used all over the place… including our recent Belle and Sebastian cover for those lush MBV-esque guitars. “Disturbed Pair” is our favorite song to play live at the moment, because it’s immediately toe-tapping and doesn’t need to change directions. That song was actually too long to fit on a 7-inch vinyl at 45rpm, so we had special 8-inch records hand-cut here in Austin,” comments the band.
