How to write thank you cards from/with your children

We are sure that your children are showered with gifts every time that they celebrate an important milestone. From arriving into the world to graduating university, there are going to be a lot of special occasions to mark over the course of your child’s lifetime and this means that you have to get ready to say a lot of thank yous!

Saying thank you on behalf of your little one will become a regular task you have to face in parenthood until the day finally arrives when the kids are old enough to write their own thank you cards, (with a bit of prompting). Whilst that day is a great one, getting the kids to write thoughtful notes to friends and family can still be a time-consuming task and it can be difficult to put their gratitude, (or indifference), into words.

Whether you are saying thanks for a baby gift or a Christmas gift, read on to discover wording ideas from Atelier Rosemood to help you put pen to paper when it comes to writing your baby thank you cards.

Top tips for thank you cards

  • Start early: thank you cards are too easy to put off and it usually takes a few sessions to get through them with the kids.

  • Make a note of gifts: no matter what the occasion, write down who give your child which gift so that you can mention the specific gift on your thank you cards.
  • Add a generic message online: personalised baby thank you cards allow you to type a message online, leaving you or your child to sign off the cards by hand.
  • Add a photo: photo baby thank you cards are a lovely way to treat your friends and family to a picture of your little one, and taking photos with the kids especially for their cards can make thank you cards a lot more fun.
  • Share out the work: If your child is now old enough to write, give them the cards to sign and you can address the envelopes.
  • Keep the address book up to date: Ensure that you keep your address book up to date to be ready to send thank you cards for any occasion.

New Baby Thank You Cards

Your little one’s arrival into the world will be an exciting occasion for the entire family so we are sure that your loved ones will go all out to support you after the birth and will treat your baby to plenty of gifts. Sending baby thank you cards is an easy way to send a sentimental message to your friends and family and can be written from you as parents or written as if from your new baby girl or boy.

We are sure that you have your hands full with your new baby, so here are a few sample messages to make writing your baby thank you cards that bit easier.

  • Oliver loves your gift and we do too! Thanks again for spoiling him!

  • Baby Joseph thanks you for his lovely gift. He can’t wait to meet you, so please do come and visit soon.

  • Thank you for your generous gift! We are so grateful for your support and it feels good to know you’re thinking of us and baby Zoe!

  • We are truly thankful for your thoughtful gift and for all of your love and support during this exciting time in our lives!

  • Thank you so much for the sweet card! We really appreciate it and we know that Jane does too!

Christening Thank You Cards

A few words will go a long way when it comes to thanking your friends and family for joining you at your child’s christening or baptism, so let them know how grateful you are by writing one of these short, but sweet messages in your christening thank you cards.

  • Thank you for sharing in the joy of Joshua’s christening. We are so grateful for your love, prayers and generous gift.

  • Thank you for your kind gift for my baptism. Even though you were unable to attend the service, it was lovely to know that you were thinking of me on my special day.

  • We would like to thank you for being Godparent to baby Elizabeth. We are so grateful for your support.

  • Thank you for your kind wishes and lovely gifts to celebrate the christening of our precious son.

Birthday Thank You Cards

Whether you are hosting an intimate family event or a big birthday bash, your friends and family are sure to help you celebrate your child’s latest birthday, so birthday thank you cards are a great thing to have to hand! For the first few birthdays you will have to write the thank you cards yourself but as the years progress you can start simply prompting your little one on what to write and can then go ahead and leave them to write their own cards (hooray!)

  • Thank you so much for joining us for Charlotte’s birthday party and for her lovely gift.

  • Thank you for the birthday wishes and your kind gift that helped make James’s birthday so special.

  • Thank you so much for my birthday gift. I can’t wait to try it out.

  • Thank you so much for coming to my birthday party! I had a lot of fun, and I love the gift you got me.

Christmas Thank You Cards

We are sure that many a gift under the tree this year will be for your little one and not just including the ones from Santa! Set an example for your child by sending thank you cards after each Christmas. Eventually, you will be able to hand them your stock of note cards and let them write their own thank you cards, but in the meantime, here are a few ideas to get you started on your Christmas thank you cards:

  • Thank you for the money you gave me for Christmas. I am going to put it towards a new board game.

  • I was so excited to receive your Christmas gift in the post!  It is exactly what I wanted.

  • Thank you so much for sending a Christmas gift for the girls. It was so nice to know that you were thinking about them!

  • Thank you so much for the money you sent Noah for Christmas. We have put it away in his savings account for now!

One final piece of advice is to not stress over thank you cards. At the end of the day it is not really important what your child writes but more so the fact they (or you) take the time to write something!

Writing thank you cards will become an unavoidable task in parenthood and you are sure to be counting down the days to when your little one can write his or her own cards! In the meantime, try to make it as painless as possible by making writing thank you cards fun. Take the opportunity to have your child add his or her own little drawing to the cards or get the family together to stage a funny photo for your photo thank you cards to make the experience a little more enjoyable.

Personalised baby thank you cards from Atelier Rosemood are a great option for any one of your child’s milestones! Choose a design that suits your little one and then add the message and photos of your choice online! Just make sure that you or your child then signs off the cards by hand!
