After appearing in various feature films, shorts, stage performances, and music videos, including John Legend and Chance the Rapper’s ‘Penthouse Floor,’ Danto takes on the music industry with his new single entitled ‘Peaches.’ Listen here
The artist and performer premiered the irresistible track in March, while its acoustic version was released in May.
Born Prabowo Dwiananto in Jakarta, Indonesia, Danto entered the entertainment business in 2016 after attaining his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performing Arts.
“Acting and performing others’ materials are wonderful forms of artistic expression, but there’s nothing more empowering or fulfilling than speaking your own written words,” he revealed. “When I look at my musical idols, such as Sufjan Stevens and Taylor Swift, the way they convey their truth through their music is stunning, and I aspire to do the same.”
The track’s lyrics were influenced by Danto’s romantic experiences in his home city of Jakarta as well as American metropolises Los Angeles and New York.
“We’ve all been there, right?” he poses. “I’ve certainly been attracted to people so much that I’m attracted to how they sip their drink or the way they fix their hair, all without even knowing anything about them. That’s that spark.”
In addition to influences by alternative and new wave music, Danto specifically cites musician Jack Antonoff’s production discography as the track’s sonic muse, crediting Antonoff as his foremost musical inspiration.
“I love him,” he professes. “He’s my dream collaborator.”
The 24-year-old revealed that he is currently working on his debut EP, which he hopes to release later this year. Regarding the upcoming project and the themes that will be explored, he reveals that it will have “some mistakes, some recoveries, and a lot of universal love.”
