INTERVIEW: Tundra

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

Elliott: Hey dude, we have been extremely not bad, have you been extremely not bad also? Cause that would make our day!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “You’re Welcome”?

Caitilin: We wrote it about a sweet walk we took in the Forest of Dean, it’s basically about realising you’re great when you’ve got your true mates around you!

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

Elliot: I’d say it’s a mix of events that led up to it, but we’ve found ourselves in a position where we’re really happy with the people around us, and it all stems from that really.

Any plans to release a video for the single?

Caitilin: We’re working on a little something, we do everything ourselves for the music vids and just getting the three of us together on a good day for filming is pretty tricky haha.

How was the recording and writing process?

Elliott: We’ve been working on the song for a pretty long time, and recorded it with George Perks at the crypt which was awesome! We were constantly changing things in the studio until we were happy with it, so it was quite an ongoing process.

How has The Front Bottoms and SWMRS influenced your writing?

Caitilin: The front bottoms have influenced our vocals so much, I’ve listened to them for years and love their writing style so much!

Elliott: To be honest, Our other main influences are definitely Dune Rats and SKEGSS. We love SWMRS, but dunies are our one true loves ❤

What role does Bury St. Edmunds play in your music?

Elliot: None of us actually live in bury but Caitilin and Elliott were at college there when we formed, and we have a lot to thank to our lord and saviour Mr Seymour Quigley of Washing Machine for putting us on so many times at The Hunter club!

Elliott: Winning Burysound was such a great push too because it got our name out there a lot quicker, so we got some great opportunities from that.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

Caitilin: We’ve got some stuff in the woodworks for sure.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Elliot: Hopefully while it’s still sunny ‘cause our music sounds better in the sunshine haha

Any plans to hit the road?

Caitilin: Definitely! If the opportunity arises we’ll be all over that! Gigging is our favourite part of being a band, so any chance we get to play we’re on it!

What else is happening next in Tundra’s world?

Elliott: You’ll have to wait and see. I don’t even think we know… do we???
