PREMIERE: Box Of Moxie Streams New LP, “Salt Water Magic”

Salt Water Magic, an extraordinaire new compilation, takes on all things ocean, sea,  tributary…..Not to mention Love. “Spirit Rainbow” and “Bounty From the Seas” are prime examples of songwriter Stephen Jacques addressing global warming, overfished seas and the like, with a light beatles-esque touch sprinkled here and there, and the continued elegant yet pedantic instrumentation by multi-instrumentalist and Producer Alan Weatherhead.

Other songs evoke the Sea and the Sky in a love context that will carry your mind far away from the stresses of the day. There is even an alt-country vibe going down with Box of Moxie’s “Streams of Love” and things are ultimately brought down to earth again with the high energy of “High Horse Blaze”. It seems Jacques is taking on three or four contenders in a boxing ring on this Weatherhead Produced array of arrangements, but don’t be fooled, Box of Moxie has this as its 7th Release and there seems to be no slowing down from this Virginia-based alt rock band that seems to be growing its fan base and breadth of topics with each new release.
