Fresh from debuting at Glastonbury, the Bath-based singer-songwriter Jonny Morgan is establishing a grassroots reputation following Sofar Sounds performances throughout the UK, Europeand even theStates.
Now Jonny Morgan prepares to release his debut single ‘Your Touch’on July 19th. Echoing the widescreen, open road narrative of his hero Bruce Springsteen, it’s a track which captures the immediately anthemic style of The Killers with the contemporary style ofGeorge Ezra’s more upbeat material. Despite those references, it sparkles with Jonny’s own personality – especially in the lovelorn lyrics, which unashamedly pine for a reconnection with a lover.
‘Your Touch’ is the first song to preview Jonny’sdebut EP of the same name which will follow later in the year. Like the single, the EP explores the volatile nature of young love – from simple heartbreak to realising that you need to grow as a person before you can make a relationship work. It features the country-tinged live favourite ‘Why Did I Let You Go?’, the first song he ever wrote in the shape of ‘Jumpin’ and ‘Sarah’, which explores the story of getting too deep in a relationship before it’s even begun.
Collectively, the EP’s storytelling songs touch on legendary influences such as Springsteen, Tom Petty and Elvis Costello.
