I’m good, it’s Summer here in Mongolia, so we’re always happy!
-Please, tell us more about your latest single and music video for “Tasty”?
It was exciting to make my first English single and sign with b2 music. Silverstrike made the beat, and NASTEE from pro era in Brooklyn mixed it – so great to work with these guys! The video we shot in my hometown Ulaanbaatar, and also in the Gobi Desert.
-Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song? Is it based off personal experience?
Since it’s my first song in English, I just wanted to introduce myself to the world. In Mongolia everyone knows me, but this was something totally new for me.
-How was the filming process and experience behind the music video?
Well we shot it on top of the tallest building in UB, the Shangri-La Hotel. Nobody had done that before. That was a buzz, but it was April and it was cold up there!
-How was the recording and writing process of the track?
The track we recorded at Billboard Studio in Hong Kong, where b2 music is, and also where Silverstrike is from. It was super fun and easy, and we recorded in an afternoon.
-What was it like to work with NASTEE and how did that relationship develop?
My manager knew NASTEE from NYC, and he sent him the song. He liked it and offered to mix it. I’m a big Joey Bada$$ fan, so I was like ‘this is insane!’ haha. Also there is a remix that NASTEE did that we will release soon 😉
-How much did he influence the song?
I think when you hear the Remix you will know!
-What role does Mongolia play in your musicianship?
Well, I’m Mongolian 100% so you can say everything really. But I learned about Hip Hop and RnB from the internet, and it’s a really popular genre in Mongolia.
-Does your approach tend to change in any way when you are writing in another language, in this case, English?
I had to keep the lyrics really simple for this first one. My English isn’t good enough for lots of inside meanings yet – but hopefully it will be soon!
-Does the new single mean we can expect even more new material – how’s that coming along?
I am working with a Brooklyn producer now called Harry Fraud, who heard ‘Tasty’ and now we’re discussing my next single and EP. He’s amazing, has produced everyone from French Montana to A$AP Rocky, etc. I can’t believe it.
-Any plans to hit the road and make your way to the states?
I should be there in October for a showcase and to record!
-What else is happening next in Mrs. M’s world?
Just writing, writing, writing…need to have my rhymes correct for the next phase!
