Julien Chang Shares Debut Single, Signs To Transgressive Records

Nineteen-year-old multi-instrumentalist, producer, and songwriter Julien Changannounces today that he has signed to Transgressive Records (SOPHIE, Let’s Eat Grandma, Neon Indian), and shares debut single “Of The Past” – a high-octane disco-funk track that highlights his extraordinary talents. Self-recorded and self-produced in his home studio, “Of The Past” is the perfect introduction to Julien, his remarkable vision and breathtaking instrumental chops.

Baltimore native and current university student Julien Chang (pronounced Chong) surprised his peers when he began quietly self-releasing music during his senior year of high school. Previously only thought of as a trombone player, Chang’s songs span multiple instruments and fuse infectious pop melodies and experimental psych-rock with progressive jazz improvisation and sophisticated classical construction. The captivating releases caught the attention of TransgressiveRecords, who have now signed Chang for his forthcoming proper debut album release.

Julien will embark on his first ever tour later this year with dates that include a headline show at Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right on October 15.  All dates are listed below, and tickets go on-sale Friday. Get your tickets HERE.
