DC Indie Rock Band The Colonies Release New Single “Do Nothing With

DC indie rockers The Colonies are releasing their new single “Do Nothing With Me”. Listen here

“Do Nothing With Me” is a soon-to-be summer hit with its upbeat arrangement featuring jangly gliding guitars, growling vocals and tight percussion. Its influences are indebted to a blend of garage rock and indie pop similar to bands from the early 2000s. The track is special to the band as it was recorded with just two members: Joey Mamlin and Pete Stevens. After losing 2 band members due to graduating from college at The George Washington University, Stevens and Mamlin entered the studio to record the song with them playing each instrument. Mamlin performs drums and bass on the track while Stevens does both guitar parts and the vocals. After graduating college and starting professional jobs, the track was written with the theme of never wanting to grow up.
