INTERVIEW: Saddle Of Southern Darkness

With a new ep,  new videos and legions of new fans, Saddle of Southern Darkness sets their sights on a TOUR in September 2019.  We found out what other surprises this metal, hillbilly, heavy rock outfit has in store for us.  Read on.

1) Hey guys thank you for joining us.  What’s the meaning behind the title, The Feral Few?

I’d say it’s pretty straight forward, The Feral Few is an  EP so there is only 6 songs and they are as feral as it gets.

2) What’s the track listing and any personal favorite standouts?

  1. Killbilly

  2. Rotten shiver

  3. Death of the saddle

  4. Possum kickin’

  5. Sitting as a bull

  6. Dealin’ hate

Death of the saddle is probably my favorite track off this EP, I feel that we take on a different style with this song while still holding true to ourselves.

3) How long were you in the writing and recording mode with this new project?

Some of these songs are older, but most of them were written within the past year. I try not to force music and just let it come to me naturally.

4) Were you guys an integral part in the production process as well?

Well when working with Pete Deboer from World Famous Studios there isn’t a option, you must be there during the mixing and mastering and Chase and I enjoyed that process a lot. Pete really understood what we were going for with this EP and even brought things to the table that we couldn’t imagine.

5) Will your long term fans be in for any surprises on this record?

It’s definitely a lot heavier than our last two efforts but for most of the fans that have seen us live this record really captures what we do. So this should be what they’ve been waiting for.

6) Touring plans to support the album?

We hit the road September 12th through October 19th…. we will be going through the Midwest then down south before returning to Colorado.

7) Where can we find you on line?
