Hello! We’ve been really good thank you. We recently played at La French Escapade in Paris, Hit The North Festival in Newcastle and more, so we’ve been having a lot of fun!
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Run Away”?
It’s a big, catchy track that gets stuck in your head after the first listen! We love playing it live and it’s gone down really well at shows.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
I actually wrote the lyrics for this track at the end of last year when there was a news story in the UK where a Syrian refugee was getting bullied at school. This is where the idea of escaping from somewhere and running away to a better world came from.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Unfortunately not. If we had the budget, we would! We’re in touch with a few really cool video producers, so hopefully one day we’ll make a killer music video!
How was the recording and writing process?
The recording process for this track was the best yet for us. We recorded a demo in Kris’ bedroom, then went up north and recorded the track with Sugar House and it was then mixed by James K Lewis, who has mixed for Rudimental, Clean Bandit and Charli XCX.
What was it like to work with Sugar House and how did that relationship develop?
We’ve recorded a few tracks with Sugar House now and it’s been great. They push as musicians and sometimes take you out of your comfort zone and that brings great results!
How much did they get to influence the song?
We always go in to the studio open minded and we are willing to try different ideas, so Sugar House definitely influenced the song and added bits to make it sound as great as it does now!
Does the new single mean we can expect more new material – how’s that coming along?
We’re busy writing and recording new music at the moment, so there will definitely be more new music from us soon. We’re not sure how soon yet though…
Any plans to hit the road?
We’re really keen to get a support tour or two after festival season. We love playing live shows – we are lively and have a lot of crowd interaction, so the shows are always fun. Our booking agent Nikos Kazoleas at United Talent Agency is working hard at the moment to make that happen.
What else is happening next in Idolising Nova’s world?
On Saturday 3rd August we are playing 110 Above Festival in Leicestershire, which we are really looking forward to – such a good line-up and we’ve heard great things about that festival. Apart from that, we’re busy writing and recording new music and keeping our fingers crossed for some support tours later in the year!
