Hi Cristian, welcome to Vents! How have you been?
Very well and pleased to make this interview with Vents!
Can you talk to us more about your latest release “Caution”?
It’s a remake of an old track made a few years ago. Looking in my unfinished projects I found Caution and I felt the needless to finish it with new sounds and a proper Mastering.
Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?
You’ve also released a remix recently for Robert Babicz – Machine Lord. How was that?
Robert sent me the track and I loved one of the sequences used in. My head started to think in something really Underground from that sequence and then I started to create the remix. I love it!
Do you tend to take a different approach when remixing or collaborating with someone else rather than working on your own original material?
It’s different, I prefer to create my original music but when I work for a Remix I love to take the essence of the track and reconstruct something with my sound and personality. When I finish the remixes I usually would like to take it for my labels ;-D
Do you tend to tweak your sound depending on what label you are releasing a new song?
Every labels have a personal direction. I only send tracks when I have something created in the same way , otherwise I prefer to keep it for my own labels.
After a 25 years spanning career – are you hoping to move back into your roots or you are just moving forward?
I never moved from my roots but I like different styles in the electronic music and that’s vital to be a complete artist.
Symphonic music and Techno are the origin of my creativity but I love to work also in experimental ambient, electro….
What have you learned from all these years?
Respect, passion and love for the music and my colleagues and followers.
Can we expect more new material this year – how’s that coming along?
Yeah! New releases are coming every month and very interesting remixes.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Now I’m focused in my new Album for the end of 2019
What does your tour schedule look like at the moment?
Busy but very interesting! New festivals, new clubs and of course all my Black Codes events.
Can you tell us about your residency at E1 NIghtclub in London?
It’s something very special, it’s the perfect place to play my misic with the most Underground, clever and purist crowd ever found. For first time in years I feel like at home.
What else is happening next in Cristian Varela’s world?
