Thank you so much. I’ve been great, super excited now that the single is out.
Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Are You Happy?”?
Absolutely! “Are You Happy?” is a song I wrote in the middle of the night. I couldn’t sleep, I felt a little lonely and started thinking back about a guy I had deep feelings for. An image came to mind, I saw myself walking out of his house the last time we were together and the chorus just instantly came to me. I was thinking whether he was happy now…what is he doing, is he thinking about me…
Did any event, in particular, inspire you to write this song?
He was someone that I loved very much and eventually what happened between us helped me write this song.
Any plans to release a video for the single?
Oh, the video is already out and you can check it on YouTube! Don’t forget to comment below too!
How were the recording and writing process?
I like writing alone, I isolate myself, most of all the songs I’ve written were just me and a piece of paper.
The recording process is always exciting! It’s a rush not knowing how the song will sound, I came with the lyrics and melody to the studio, but I didn’t really know what I wanted at first. It’s a good thing I had a brilliant producer to relay on.
What was it like to work with Guy Mar and how did that relationship develop?
Guy is one of the best people I have ever met! He is one of the first producers I’ve worked with and he also produced my earlier material in Hebrew so I feel like home when I am in the studio with him. I’m fortunate to work with someone as talented and as passionate as him. He gets me, we talk a lot about the vision and how we want the song to be presented but at the end of the day, we roll in the studio with how we feel. No rules.
How did he get to influence the song?
Guy knows I love beats! I am VERY influenced by a lot of current pop productions in the world. I sang the song to him and let him work his magic. There’s trust between us so I feel comfortable and he puts in his style.
What role does Israel play in your music?
It’s hard to talk about Israel as a part of a “role”. This is my home, It’s where I was born and raised. My whole life is here even though I would see myself relocate for music. But I would do a lot of things for music!
For now, I am here, my producers are here, a daily job that I have is here…until maybe something in the near future will start kicking in!
As you try to take by storm the US – are you going for a new direction or are you trying to bring your own old and established sound into the states?
That’s a really good question! Ummm… Yeah, I would say I am trying to storm to the US market!
I was always drawn to sing in English, write in English, I feel that’s where I wanna be now. As far as my own material goes, I’m just trying to be honest about how I feel and pour my emotions into whatever I am writing right now. At the end of the day I want to show my true character and I believe that can happen by being true to your own experiences. I had a lot of things to write about after my accident, my heart was bursting with emotions and It’s time and It’s time to let it all out.
Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?
Hell yeah, a lot of new stuff is coming! I love my time in the studio, I’m recording three songs as we speak! So I’m super excited to get that out.
Any tentative release date or title in mind?
Well…If you must know…The next single I’m thinking of releasing is a song I wrote while I was in the US just two months ago, something extremely personal and it will show a different side of me too.
The chorus goes like this: “You really played a number on me, Cut my soul in half to be free, You lied”
Like I said, lots to look forward too!
Any plans to hit the road?
Oh wow, I’m dreaming about it and I would definitely want too. Maybe it will take a couple of months to get there.
What else is happening next in Moran’s world?
Let me see…I dream big, I was always the kind of person who wanted more. I’m here trying to get it and I won’t stop. So…Smile and work hard, huh?
