INTERVIEW: Marvin Valet

Q: Hi Chris, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

A: Hi guys, I’ve been great how about you? And Actually you guys can call me Marvin.

Q : Can you talk to us more about your latest single “This Feeling”?

A: This single ‘This Feeling’ really came from the feeling of coming from winter and going into the summer, finally.

Q: Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

A: Winters are though here in Canada and it was a relief. So the song came about wanting to feel that ‘feeling’ of trying new things and having fun really. And wanting to go out with the people you loved and cared about the most.

Q: Any plans to release a video for the single?

A: I don’t think I will make a video for this song, because it really came off of being a song for the summer and putting something out there for the people to enjoy.

Q: How was the recording and writing process?

A: Actually the writing was pretty easy, I’ve heard the beat, freestyled over it and what you actually heard on the record are  the words and melody I first came with. As for the recording it was a bit longer because I didn’t want it to be «too over produced» as in effects and everything but the people I’ve showed it too were mixed into «yea I love it simplistic» and «yea I love it with the big sounds and everything» so I kinda had to go in between both.

Q: How has Billie Eilish and Drake influenced your writing?

A: Billie Eilish kind of inspires me with the alternative vibe like to not go with sounds that you normally hear and try to bring your own twist to it, whatever style you’re doing . Drake was one of my first influences because I first wanted to become a rapper before the singing took over, I was like «  well, if I want be an artist I want be able to be like Drake and sing while being able to rap and vice – versa ».

Q: What role does Canada play in your music?

A:Canada plays a big role, in my music in general because I wanna be one of the top representatives of the country up there with Justin Bieber, Drake and all of them.

Q: How your background as a freestyle rapper does gets to influence your music as a whole?

A:Me coming from doing freestyles in school at first gave me my number one  writing rule «the first idea is the best idea» because it came naturally to you, you know like a spark, I like to think of it as your most authentic self,a feeling, I go with the vibe everytime, let’s say you’re in a battle people won’t be expecting it because it comes from nowhere and it makes the best reactions.

Q: Does the new single mean we can expect a new material – how’s that coming along?

A: That new single definitely means that you’re going to hear way more from me now, this song was really me having fun and being my first song out of 2019. Every song I write is to be a new «update » or « post »on what I’m feeling, and I do have a lot to say.

Q: Any tentative release date or title in mind?

A: And as we speaking right now there’s already another song coming up in the month of July and way more lined up for the rest of the year and the upcoming year, let’s get it !

Q: Any plans to hit the road?

A:I do not plan to hit the road though but I do want to , because I get in my dms  people asking me «  when are you gonna come here, And there », «  I wanna see you » hopefully I’ll get to see everybody anytime soon, and it’ll be a great time I promise you.

Q: what else is happening on Marvin Valet’s world?

A: What’s coming for me is more preparation for the upcoming year,  songs and put down the dedication, as always, because music is a craft and art and a passion , it’s way much more than just pulling up in the booth and say 2-3 words.

And in my world I definitely want to do stuff for the people, content wise because we’re not alone and if we are than we’re alone together and I want that message to be spread around the world and especially to my followers and fans, like it’s gonna be alright.
