Perfect for remembering all the angst of your teen years, Kentucky-Fried QueerdosGRLwood have shared their new single, “I Hate My Mom,” today with Billboard. Louisville’s latest obsession, GRLwood, unapologetically sings and screams their way through this anthem of highly-relatable arguments taking you back to the days of parental control and rebellion. Coming off of their soon to be released sophomore album, I Sold My Soul To The Devil When I Was 12, the scream-pop duo delivers a righteous follow-up to their acclaimed 2018 release, Daddy. Meeting us with familiar themes of queerness, politics, and satire, GRLwood continues to solidify their name as the next big thing in punk. Look for their new album out August 2 on all platforms.
In addition to multiple house concerts and dive shows, GRLwood will be playing two major shows this summer. One of them being Forecastle, a huge festival in Louisville, KY that will also feature acts including The Killers, Anderson .Paak, Andrew Bird, and The Avett Brothers. The GRLs will also be playing Gathering of the Jugaloos, the infamous music festival that was founded by Insane Clown Posse. GRLwood, excitingly enough, will be the first OUT musical act to perfrom the festival.
Still fresh faces, Rej Forester (guitar and vocals) and Karen Ledford (drums) are not fresh to the stage. Known for their energetic live performances, since joining forces the two have had a full schedule of shows, travel, and recording. Refusing to be confined by labels, these queerdos are a musical force paving their own path through the music scene. You can check out their unforgiving and powerful music in person at Forecastle and the Gathering of the Juggalos. Grab the info below.
