How to Overcome Jealousy In a Relationship

If you have been in a relationship or is currently involved with someone, there is a good possibility that you have gotten jealous at some point in time.

Jealousy is very common in relationships. It can also lead to further problems if it gets out of hand.

Fortunately, there are some things that you can work on to get rid of these jealous moments. We caught up with Loveawake dating site co-founder and online dating expert, Alex Wise, who suggested some insider tips on how to overcome jealousy in a relationship.

Tip #1 – Keep it in your mind that the one you are with is with you. Now this may sound like a strange tip but it really helps to overcome jealousy.

According to Alex, “as long you know that you and your partner are together and going strong, you shouldn’t have to worry about another person coming along flirting with them or trying to seduce them because you know they are with you and not interested in whatever else there is out there.”

Of course, your partner should be able to be trusted when it comes to these types of situations.

Tip #2 – In the case that your partner seems to be making eyes at someone else or giving someone else more attention than you, you need to be confident in you and your partners relationship.

“Most of the time it is just the typical casual chat or those times where the eyes get distracted for a while. Just know that they will refocus on the main thing which is you”, Alex says.

Tip #3
 – If you find yourself getting jealous a lot, a good way to overcome this jealousy is to dig deeper into why you are getting jealous. You need to find out the reason for your jealousy. Once you can figure out what it is that gets you jealous, you can then work on taking steps to fix those triggers.

In most cases, insecurity is that main trigger for jealousy. Once again you have build confidence in your relationship and also amongst yourself. If you are confident about yourself, you would not need to worry about some of the situations that leads to a person being jealousy. The same goes for that confidence in the relationship.

Tip #4 – It also helps to overcome jealousy if you and your partner talked about it. If you let your partner know what makes you feel uncomfortable and a little on edge, they may be able to understand and work with you on the matter.

Now if you get jealous when another person of the opposite sex talks to your partner, they probably won’t be able to do anything about that. This is more of an issue you have to solve yourself.

Things such as not dancing with another person of the opposite sex while you are around is an example of something that can be worked out.
