I’ve been on a mission recently to find more tv shows and movies to watch when I’m relaxing at home. My first thought was to try mobile apps, but WHOA are there a lot out there!
One day, as I was googling “best apps,” I came across an article for the best 10 streaming apps. I thought that sounded like a promising place to start and began trying a few of the apps out. I ended up really liking them!
Through my experience, I did come up with a number of good pointers that I want to share with you (so hopefully, your search for the perfect app won’t be as chaotic as mine). Continue reading to find out my top 3 tips!
See What’s Currently Available
Don’t really know what you want to watch? Choose an app with plenty of streamable content like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video, so you can familiarize yourself with what’s available out there. It’s also good to note that many streaming platforms sort their titles into specific groups (or categories) to make everything easier for browsing.
Want to learn more about certain shows or movies? You may want to find an app that provides additional details, such as story descriptions and fun facts about the director, and cast. You may also want to find streaming apps that let you watch trailers in order to get a sense of what each movie or series is about before you start watching.
If you do know exactly what you’re looking for, look for a streaming app that lists titles by genre and in A-Z order; this can be extremely helpful when it comes to finding the specific movies you’ve been meaning to cross off your Watch List.
Watch at Any Time
It’s possible you may also want to consider how you’ll be viewing the videos themselves. If you’re interested in taking your favorite TV shows on the go, you’ll want an app that is compatible with your phone or tablet. Additionally, you may want to pick an app that lets you pick up where you left off, whether you just finished an episode or had to pause in the middle of a movie.
Do you prefer to watch movies on a bit bigger screen, yet still want to be comfy in your bed? Locate a streaming service that is compatible with Microsoft or Apple so that you can watch anything you like on your laptop or television set. With the right app, you can watch both old titles and new releases using whatever method works best for you.
Answer Film Industry Questions
On the other hand, if you’re a movie buff who wants to dig deeper into your favorite titles (or if you’re simply curious about filmmaking and the visual effects process behind your latest binge-worthy show), you’ll want an app that has behind-the-scenes or bonus features in addition to your most watched media and content
Bonus features frequently offer great insight into how movies are made and what the entire process looks like from beginning to and. Learning what a film looks like before it is edited and perfected for the screen can be just as interesting and entertaining as the movie itself.
Now that you know a little bit more about what’s out there and how you can find the right app for you, I hope you feel a little bit more prepared for the search. Since I began keeping these tips in mind, I’ve noticed such a massive difference when it comes to the apps I’m selecting – now they’re all things I actually want, not just apps I downloaded because I was too overwhelmed to do more research. Seriously, give them a try – you won’t be disappointed!
