Rudy Bundini born May 28th, 1987 is an American New York based male model who has been featured in many magazines, publications, runways and campaigns. He has been the face of Nike, Versace, Philipp Plein, Roger Dubuis and has been featured in Ariana Grande’s music video, and TV shows: the real housewives of NY and Younger, as well as in the movie Fast and Furious 7. His accolades include Male Model of the Year. However, success did not come overnight to Rudy Bundini as he faced many struggles and hardships throughout his life to get to where he is today.
He grew up in an upper class, educated family and initially did not have any goals to become a model. He worked studied hard in school and focused on swimming and boxing in his spare time. He won the gold medal and was a member of the national team in both swimming and heavy weight boxing in the international Azerbaijan boxing tournament. He would later go on to earn his Master of Science in Mechanical and Engineering-Solid Design.
His parents were hard working people but an unfortunate financial decision caused his family to lose everything. His aunt had applied for a mortgage for a large piece of property and his father had agreed to be the guarantor. Unfortunately his aunt never paid the bank the mortgage and his father was left with a large financial obligation, one that he was unable to pay and drove the family to bankruptcy.
Rudy spent many days and nights searching for truth and how he wanted to shape his life to have a meaningful impact in the world. It was not until one day he was standing outside a luxury department store that the marketing manager asked him to come in. Unbeknownst to Rudy at the time, he was being scouted as a model that would lead to his first modeling shoot. He politely replied to the manager that he had no money at the time and could not afford anything in the store so he declined to step inside. The manager asked him if he would like to make some money and asked him to become a model for their luxury brand. It was a turning point in Rudy’s life, one that would change his career goals forever.
Starting out as a model was difficult, Rudy was renting a room in Washington Heights in New York City at the time. He was not making a lot of money in the beginning and was saving as much money as he could. He recalls walking to and from Washington Heights to midtown Manhattan for work in order to save the $2.50 train fare. Some days it took him up to 4 hours to walk home after work and he would not return home until 3am. With little money in his pocket, he would purchase 10 bananas for $2 and would only eat 1.5 bananas a day. Unable to afford a gym, he would workout with whatever heavy objects he could find and perform full-body calisthenics. It was a difficult time for Rudy as he lost a lot of weight and was unable to afford enough food to maintain a healthy diet. However looking back he does not regret it at all because it taught him the meaning of hard work and dedication.
There were many times when Rudy wanted to give up on modeling. One night he woke up and heard a voice that told him to stick with his passion and to never give up. He became determined and continued to work hard to develop his physique and network with people in the industry. It was with this mindset that he was able to obtain modeling jobs with high-end designers and photographers and brand himself as one of the leading male models in the industry. He approaches every audition and casting with a positive attitude while remaining humble to his beginnings. When the journey became difficult, he is reminded of the scar on his leg from an injury he sustained that had almost cost him his life. However he uses his scar and pain not to reflect on the difficulties of his past, but rather the opportunities that are present in the future.
Modeling quickly became more than just a job for Rudy. It became a means of expressing feelings and emotions through the images. His eyes tell a story in every one of his modeling shoots. Companies look evoke feelings and emotions from people when selling their products and they turn to Rudy to help them elicit these feelings and emotions.
Looking back, Rudy is thankful for everything that has happened to him. It was through his struggles that he was able to develop the knowledge and self-discipline to earn the title of Male Model of the Year. He has seen many other male models come and go but he has been able to remain as one of the most dependable and reputable models in the world. His advice to aspiring models is to never give up and to always have a positive attitude. Even when things were looking bleak, Rudy believes that there is opportunity behind every obstacle. ”Every bad situation will have something positive, Even a dead clock shows correct time twice a day” said Rudy Bundini
