INTERVIEW: The Sway

The new sound and incredible stage presence of The Sway is taking over the LA scene and creating waves with young fans hungry for something FRESH.  We caught up with them near Hollywood to learn more about their next moves…

The Sway have the best videos of any independent band in the LA scene.  Are you just naturals at creating in this medium? Tell us more.

I’ve always loved film and I am completely certain I’d be trying to make movies if music wasn’t my main thing. Music videos are just an extension of my love for both mediums. Luckily our manager actually has a Film degree as well as tons of experience and research knowledge on the subject so our videos are a collaboration of my ideas and overall tone and feel I want to see in each production, combined with her vision and production skills to actually make it happen.

Pretty Mouth is a very sexually charged song.  Was it about a certain person or just relationships in general?

No particular person, really. Just sex in general, albeit written more ambiguously than your average kinky song.

Do you tend to bring in personal experiences when writing your music or do you write more from a fantasy viewpoint?

I always draw from personal experiences to the point where it’s a picture painted from literal interactions with people. I like jumping from line to line being both super literal and vague in the same verse.

Your new EP is hitting soon.  What can we expect?

It’s the second installment in our two part EP series, and since they both were written and produced around the same year the second half keeps the sound consistent. Although the second half is my personal favorite.

Where is the next show?

Right now we are in the process of writing our debut album and it’s been quite intense recently. No shows booked yet!

Anything else you want to share with our readers?

Stay awesome and keep supporting!
