INTERVIEW: People Club

Hi guys, welcome to VENTS! How have you been?

We’re all good, thanks!

Can you talk to us more about your latest single “Better”?

‘Better’ is our debut single and discusses personal feelings of ambition and inadequacy.  It’s very much an autobiographical song, and is a special track for us, being our hello to the world and all!  We have opened our live show with it for a while now, so it made sense to make it our first release too.

Did any event in particular inspire you to write this song?

No event in particular, it’s inspired by that lingering and very familiar feeling which we  all encounter frequently – to want to do better in our lives.

How was the filming process and experience for the video?

It was a lot of fun.  We filmed it at our friend’s apartment in Berlin with a vintage film camera.  We spent most of the day fooling around and getting excited about cutting Sarah’s hair off!

How was the recording and writing process?

It was pretty casual. We wrote it together last year and tweaked it over the course of a couple of shows.  We recorded it live in our studio in Berlin using a Motown-inspired setup.

How does Berlin influence your music as a whole?

Berlin has a huge influence on our music. The city is steeped in such history; it’s a place of reflection on humanity as a whole and its troubles, and that’s really inspiring for creativity.

Does the new single mean we can expect a new album? How’s that coming along?

Hmm put it this way – you’re definitely gonna hear a lot more from us in the near future.

Any tentative release date or title in mind?

Our next single ‘Lonesome’ is out July 12th.

Any plans to hit the road?

We’re working on it!

What else is happening next in People Club’s world?

We’re super excited for the release of ‘Lonesome’ and our next gig in Berlin!  It’s at Internet Explorer on July 12th.  There’s also more releases to follow that later in the year.
